December 7, 1999 News Release by Mick Grant
Editor's Note: Mick Grant announces his stepping down as head coach of the GLRR Youth Team. He will assist Mark Donais in the future. Way Cool wishes him luck, thanks him for his hard work with our youth, and congratulates him on his successes. We hope that he will continue to be a contributor to the kids' page.

As of January, 2000 I will step down as the head coach of the Greater Lowell Road Runners Youth Team. I want to thank all of the great kids who have run for me over the past several years. We have had many wonderful highlights and the memories will always be with me. I can't remember every single high point, but Way Cool Running has run several pieces on the team during the 1999 season.

We have been fortunate to have great girls like Melissa Donais (Foot Locker Northeast Region Champion), Chantelle Dron (2 time Hershey 800m National Champion), Ashley Moulton (Mass Class A 200m champion) and Danielle Incropera (3 sport varsity star athlete).

The boys team of Michael Grant, Hershey 800m champion Russell Brown, Will Seidel and Asif Abdul-Wadud highlighted 1999 with the great East Coast Invitational win in the 4 x 800m relay. My daughter, Sarah, also deserves mention because of her twin wins at the Hershey State Meet.

A definite highlight this year is our 13 qualifiers to Hershey's North American Final in Hershey, PA. Russell Brown and Chantelle Dron came home as National Champions and Michael Grant's 3rd place was also his 3rd Hershey medal winning run.

Greater Lowell Road Runners is so supportive of our kids and I have been proud to be the coach. My plan is to continue assisting the new Head Coach, Mark Donais.
